About Me and FBB

I never thought of myself as the "blogging" type. I always reserved blogs for the philosophical, DIY, and entrepreneurial types. None which I fit the category of...

Nonetheless, here I am typing away trying to think of some catchy attention grabber that doesn't make me seem like a generic hipster who thinks she's too cool to have a blog.

I've done a lot of trial and error with different platforms to cope with the daily stressors of life. Yoga, adult coloring books, wine, sleeping, just to name a few. None really stuck with me so what did I decide on? a blog.

I want FBB to be as transparent as possible because I have a lot of trouble communicating my real feelings to people when I'm conversating. (I like to use humor and sarcasm to deflect a lot)

So without further ado let me give you a brief introduction to me.

My mommy and me Dec. 1997

My first 7 years of life I was an only child. For a majority of the time, it was always "Mommy and Me". My mom came to the US from the Philippines in the 80's as a nurse. She moved from Boston to Kansas City and had me!

Fast forward some years later and she had my brother Bentley. I don't have any baby pictures of us on hand so here's more of a recent picture.

Even though my immediate family is small I come from a big stereotypical Filipino family, complete with multiple aunties, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and the occasional stranger you aren't sure who exactly they are, but they always show up when there's free food.

While it doesn't seem pretty relevant that you know about my extended family, they actually play a really big role in what FBB is all about and that is, mental illness, family dynamics and the impact they have on each member of its clan.

Spitfire facts about me:

1. I am 20 years old.
2. I am a Sociology major
3. I've been at community college way too long
4. I like stuffed animals
5. Cooking is one of my favorite and therapeutic pastimes.

7. I live with my boyfriend, Lee. He's a pretty alright kid.
8. I have few friends but the ones I do have I am very close with.
9. Target is my happy place.
10. I have depression, anxiety, and a long list of other health issues.
